“Before I had kids, I always pictured my kids being happy…”
Met with Sandra today. She’s a sweet lady. I feel really down though. She actually used the words “we’ll try make him comfortable this year” as if he’s got a terminal disease or something. I had to introduce him to Sandra again, it was like he hardly remembered her, even though they saw each other every day last year, AND the year before!
The most worrying thing is how depressed he is. I know that part bothers Micheal the most. Before I had kids, I always pictured my kids being happy. Maybe not the smartest or most talented or honor students or anything, but just nice, happy kids. It breaks my heart that Jacob is so negative. He not only hates school – he hates everything.
The pastor said some interesting things yesterday at church. About prayer. Mike and I do pray, but I’m encouraged to pray again, specifically for Jacob, that God will give us a miracle where he’s concerned. Maybe we need to just pray for that. A miracle.

You sound like a really great mom.
Most children like to please and there is no “secondary gain”
in not doing well.
It is so sad to read about such hopelessness in a young child though I know your story is not unique.
I truly hope you are able to find a teacher who sees Jacob through the same lense that God does: Jacob has been equipped with all he needs to be who God needs him to be.
Quite honestly, based on what you posted I’m not too surprised that Jacob didn’t remember “Miss Sandra.” Her mediocre attitude towards his education is absolutely underwhelming.
