“Mom, I can do it by myself, I don’t need help tonight.”
It has been two months since we started LearningRx, and the time Jake spends on his homework has been cut in half! Yesterday I sat down with him to help him, like I always do, and he said – get this – he said “Mom, I can do it by myself, I don’t need help tonight”.
What is this?? I have to admit I went back later after he was asleep to check his work, and he did get a few things wrong, but overall he got more correct answers *by himself* than he ever got when I was sitting there prompting him and helping him. This is amazing!
I have to say LearningRx is really helping Jake. And the program isn’t even half over! What am I going to do with my free evenings?
The above is based on a true story of a LearningRx family. For more about the story behind these journal entries, click here.

I agree with the way you prioritized your evening goals.
Much more important that your son was willing to take academic risk than it was for him to achieve 100% mastery.
Mastery matters and that will come.
Willingness to take ownership of his homework is a very good first step.

I am a trainer at the Bossier City location as well as a proud parent. I completely understand the joy that you felt when your child attempted to do his own work. Seeing the courage and willingness of your child should make you extremely proud. Congratulations
